Do you ever look at your layout and think to yourself “It needs a little something”? I’m one of those scrappers who feels that my page or card just isn’t finished if it doesn’t have a little “sparkle”. It can be hard to sneak the glitter onto your page without it looking too obvious, but if you think creatively you can add just the right amount to make it sing.
I used a border punch and Wonder Film to cut out a little scalloped edge, then I attached it to the page before I added my photos. By adding the glitter first, it helps to prevent it from getting on the photos and sticking.
Welcome to the this week’s edition of “Talk Tuesdays“! Today is the day that we post answers to questions that we’ve received either in our blog comments, from the shows we attend or emails. Come back every week and you’ll find the answers to those questions!
Q: Why use a goat hair brush?
A: Embossing Powder, Glitter and our Art Acetates are made from plastic. Many soft brushes, including make up brushes, are also synthetic even though they look like hair. When you rub one synthetic against another, static electricity builds up and things stick together, i.e., glitter to the Art Acetates (in areas you may not want). A remedy for this is to use a natural hair brush, like the P K Glitz Goat Hair Brush. Brushing it over your acetates or even cardstock, minimizes static cling or build up.
The one thing I love to wear in the summertime (okay, just about anytime) is flip flops! With that in mind, I want to challenge you this month to create a project using Flip Flops as the theme!
Here is what are designers came up with:
Out for Summer by Jamie
Glitter: Lemonade (P K Glitz)
Adhesive: V2 Vellum Adhesive (Helmar)
Cardstock: Primary Textured (Momenta)
All American Flip Flops by Marci
Sticky Tape: (P K Glitz)
Glitter: China Red, White Pearl, Azure (P K Glitz)
Rhinestones: Darice
Flip Flops: Michaels Craft Store
Punches: Water Threading (Fiskars) and Classic Scalloped Squares, Large (Spellbinders)
Here is a quick and easy way to add an incredible amount of sparkle and shine to your holiday tree or home decor.
- Select size of chipboard ring to surround your acetate image.
- Use ring as pattern and draw circle on acetate and mylar (or whatever you choose for backing).
- On one side only of each chipboard ring, glitter with glue and your chosen PK Glitz Glitter.
- While drying, make a “hanging ring” with lightweight wire. Leave the “tails” where you can separate and glue between the rings later.

Q: Can you use more than one embossing powder on a project?
A: Most definitely! The P K Glitz Enameling technique is a terrific example of using multiple embossing powders on one project to give depth and multiple color. Take a look at the Enameling instructions for a step-by-step tutorial!
